11/26 In class activity
In-Class activity, November 26th
1. Three main takeaways- having a strong organizational brand is particularly critical when a company faces a crisis. A strong well-managed branding strategy can add significant value to a company. Taking advantage of major corporate milestones contributes to the community it is based on.
2. Corporate reputation- the overall estimation in which an organization is held by its internal and external stakeholders based on its past actions and probability of its future behavior. Two of the best corporate reputations are Patagonia and Wegmans. Patagonia donates lots of money to environmental groups. Wegmans is known for caring about its employees and giving money to scholarships and tuition for its employees.
3.
Hertz
A. Hertz is very passionate about helping the environment. Hertz donated one million dollars in 2007 to the United States National park foundation. Some of the biggest issues facing people in Tampa are poverty and education. Hertz helps by sponsoring habitat for humanity homes and by doing back to school drives for people in need.
B. Hertz could team up with other car rental companies like Enterprise to give small percentages of rentals to helping the schools in Tampa or to give back to struggling families. They could also team up with the city of Tampa and hold a back to school drive, collecting things for kids who live in struggling houses. Employees can get involved in both of these by bringing it up to customers on the phone. The community can be involved by volunteering for these efforts and donating time, money and supplies. They might promote these initiatives by putting it on their brochures at car rental places, by posting it on social media and by promoting their posts online. They could establish how many people see them by having a goal of people that take brochures and by looking at the analytics on their social media posts.
SNAP
A. They could consider giving back to the environment through a local or global corporation such as Blue Planet Foundation, World Wildlife Fund, or Green America. They could give money to the environment for every person that uses their app to take a picture of nature. On a local scale, they could set up a scavenger hunt around local beautiful places that have interactive elements on their app to make it enjoyable for users. Employees can get involved by volunteering to do things like plant a tree and wear t-shirts that support SNAP and also the nonprofits they're looking to support.
B. The company may promote these activities by using a bulletin board, posting about it on social media platforms. Making t-shirts and stickers that can be purchased to bring awareness. They could get the community involved by trying to get local news channels to talk about or write articles about it. The company may also promote these activities by getting influencers to discuss it.
